As students prepare for a National Pitch Competition, we worked with Dawn Mushill of Troy/Maryville/St. Jacob/Marine Chamber of Commerce for a Pitch Presentation Preview. This allowed students to develop a 30 second pitch with an outline provided by Doug Villhard that includes -
✅ Problem
✅ Solution
✅ Secret Sauce
✅ Call to Action
Students spent several days in preparation for this preview. Dawn Mushill brought on board Tress Kurzym and Ryan Nelson to help provide valuable feedback and pointers to improve their pitch.
These CEO leaders rose to the occasion and delivered. Feedback was so specific and could be absorbed by every student.
Some recommendations included being ‘planted’ - keeping feet grounded.
When you present - you don’t have to memorize your topic, you just have to KNOW it.
Modulate your tone and think about your pitch.
Record yourself presenting and then play it back - so you know how you sound.
When recording, capture from the waist up for proper focus.
Draw in some positivity-hope in referring to your topic.
Be sure to finish your sentence with same measure. No dropping off before finishing.
Tell your story in your pitch. Use your words to create imagery.
Be confident.
Recognize how social media can impact your business.
Lean into how your solution will make a person feel!
Sometimes choosing to sit for your presentation makes more sense.
With beauty products, it’s ok to be closer to the camera.
Consider social media for how-tos of your product/services.
Thank you to Tress, Nathan and Dawn for your expertise in presenting. We believe Collinsville Triad CEO has all the tools to deliver their best pitches b April 9. Thank you for being part of our year!
